Website Showcasing a Layered Art Practice

Jennifer Colten’s photographic practice isn't about standalone aesthetic shots: it's a deeply researched engagement with the histories of cultural and geographic space. Direct visual impact and written conceptual framing are both key components of her work.

To emphasize Jennifer Colten's distinct approach, I designed and built a site that could showcase the non-linear interconnections between her bodies of work at a glance, while offering intuitive pathways to deeper engagement with her images and writings. When photographs take center stage the UI recedes into the margins, and when artist statements or blog entries come into the foreground the images remain only a click away. This unique user experience is powered by a simple to use CMS system on the back end.
